AGM November 2014

Mike and Tony

Many thanks for a fine weekend. I really enjoyed it and I know that it was an awful lot of work for you both to put on a quality event like this.

Norwich 21st - 23rd March

Just back home after a excellent weekend in 'Nairich', we were treated to some diverse subjects, starting with an interesting and informative talk from Steve Smith on Zeppelins over Norfolk, then we enjoyed a couple of great walks around the City led by Rob West following Ketts Rebellion and Jo Hook outlining the Luftwaffe Baedeker raids, we also got a guided tour from the curator of the museum around the military section in the castle!

An unexpected bonus was the fantastic bookshop by the Hotel that at least ten of the attendees bumped into each other in their free time on Saturday!

Can I thank the speakers please and also say big thanks to Jo Hook for her hard work providing such an enjoyable weekend,

Kind regards,
Scottie.

"An informative and relaxed weekend in one of the lesser-known parts of the country*, but one with lots of history behind it; we traveled in time from pitchforks to blitz bombing, without going outside the city walls, and learned a lot about events many of us knew little about.  The impromptu Guild gathering in the nearby secondhand bookshop's military (and maritime) section was a surprise to the owner, who made a significant number of sales! A comfortable rabbit-warren of a hotel, a good pub for "pre- and post-tour discussions" and an interesting city to visit - thanks to Jo for the work involved in running the event."

*   Not sure if Jo would wish this phrase to be replaced with her words, which were "... geographically the arse of England" ???

"Kett's rebels took the city by crossing the river here - just where we're standing!"
